  1. THE CHOCOLATE WEEK IN THE UK

The eating of chocolate has long been associated with love. Apparently, the Aztec emperor, Monteczuma (c1502) drank fifty cups of chocolate a day to enhance his ardour.

Chocolate contains Phenylethylamine and Serotonin both of which also occur naturally in the human brain. These mood lifting substances are released into the nervous system when we are happy and when we are experiencing feelings of passion, creating a a rise in blood pressure and heart rate and inducing a feeling of well being.

As for this year, the Chocolate Cellar invites members of the public to come and get their hands dirty with chocolate making.

Participants will be invited to come along and help The Chocolate Cellar put together a delightful chocolate sculpture which will then be raffled in aid of The Oncology Centre at Clatterbridge in memory of Phil Sweetman. Participants also have a chance to dip some delights in chocolate!

They say that one major highlight of the festivities will be Chocolate Unwrapped, a show where visitors can immerse themselves in a decadent celebration of chocolate.

It’s a day to marvel at chocolate sculptures, watch chocolate cooking demonstrations and taste a variety of exciting new flavours, new chocolate, unexpected pairings and classic favourites from the world’s top chocolatiers.
