  1. Roger Allam is one of those actors who seems to be in a lot of things but no-one really seems to know who he is. He joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1981 and has been with them, on and off, for many seasons.

Also, he has made several appearances in The West End and in recent years most of his work has been with The National Theatre Company where he finally won the Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actor. In February 2002 he finally won the much deserved Olivier Award for Best Actor for his performance as Terri Dennis in Privates on Parade.

  2. Revered for his charming lead performance in Rob Reiner's classic fairy tale, "The Princess Bride" (1987), British actor Cary Elwes went on to find success largely in supporting roles. Elwes showed a career-long interest in period films, donning medieval tights again in the satirical "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" (1993), and going on to explore everything from the Civil War to NASA's journey to the moon. In his higher profile Hollywood work, the actor appeared as Tom Cruise's rival in "Days of the Thunder" (1991) before sending up the action film genre in "Hot Shots" (1991). He supported Jim Carrey in the comedy "Liar Liar" (1997) and chased storms in "Twister" (1996), and while he was initially typecast for his dashing, patrician air, Elwes' later career was marked by villainous roles and darker material like "The X-Files" (Fox, 1993-2002) and "Saw" (2004), which benefited greatly from the blond actor's deceptively preppy looks.
