  2. In this day, in 1602, the legendary Bodleian Library was founded. This is the main research library of the University of Oxford and one of the oldest libraries in Europe, and in Britain is second in size only to the British Library. This is one of six legal deposit libraries for works published in the United Kingdom. This libery was named after Sir Thomas Bodley, a famous collector of ancient manuscripts. But it was founded by Thomas Cobham, Bishop of Worcester.
